Located on the corner of Crenshaw Boulevard and Rolling Hills Road in Torrance, CA, this branch office was originally designed to be the Malaga Bank’s marquee building. Serving mostly residential clientele, the intent was to build on their reputation as a solid, warm, and friendly neighborhood bank in the new location. Given the highly visible location, the bank’s design evokes a strong, solid presence featuring a traditional Spanish architecture with residential details. Placing careful attention on the scale and proportions the design presents an articulated mass with intricate detailing. The successful design gives the bank a new presence in the city and contributes to the commercial street scale.
