Honda Performance Development

Withee Malcolm provided improvements in an existing industrial building for Honda Performance Development, the division that produces Honda Indy Race Car engines. The small factory in the Santa Clarita Hills required significant modifications to the existing structure, including office and support areas, machine and assembly shops, labs, R&D, and warehousing.

Among the architectural and engineering changes to accommodate program requirements: reinforce the roof structure for a new air conditioning system, add three mezzanine structures, provide engine assembly areas and test labs, and convert manufacturing space to attractive, functional office space. WMA developed a fast-track schedule and split the project into multiple permits to meet the occupancy deadline.
